This is about a girl (Camelia) whose life changes all of the sudden because of the new guy in school. There's a rumour going on about him being the murderer of his ex-girlfriend or something of the sort; but of course, Camelia is the only one who doesn't totally believe that and weird stuff starts to happen to/around her. I'm not that deep into the book yet, but so far, I don't know if I like it? There's a lot of stereotype teenage stuff in it and other things that don't exactly do it for me. BUT, having read a previous series by Laurie Faria Stolarz, I'm not giving up yet. Hopefully, when I finish this first book of the TOUCH series, I'll have a better opinion.
It isn't easy being the rather overlooked and unhappy youngest sibling to sisters named for the other six days of the week.
*Was supposed to post this yesterday but Downton Abbey.*
A string of commonly known fairy tales and nursery rhymes have been weaved together to create this incredibly adorable and mischievous story about a family, the Woodcutters, with too much fey magic in their blood. And as everyone in Arilland knows, with fey magic comes lots of unpredictable things; trouble is never too far away, and you never know what's waiting for you around the corner.

As I reading, I couldn't help but think that the storyline was borderline genius! From page one, I got sucked in and wouldn't let myself stop (was also really annoyed whenever I got interrupted during my reading). As I somewhat stated before, a lot of fairy tales and nursery rhymes were put together to create this first tale of the Woodcutter Sisters; so you'd think that with so many different stories, there'd be lots and lots of confusion, right? Wrong. This was so perfectly orchestrated that there was absolutely no mistakes. By mistakes I mean that the author didn't mix names up and whatnot.

Featured was the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, the Princess and the Frog, and Monday's Child amongst others that I don't really know but that's OK because they made this book awesome regardless! A very embarrassing thing that happened, though, was the fact that I kept forgetting the name's of the Woodcutter sisters, so if a sentence said something like, "Friday told Sunday..." my reaction was just like, "What? Why is there a joke in the middle of th-- oh, yeah!" and this happened way too many times. ¬.¬'

One thing I really liked about the way this was written is how from chapter to chapter, time sort of jumps so there are events that you (the reader) miss, but you find out about them soon enough that it's not bothersome. One thing that I didn't like was the prince's name... WHAT KIND OF NAME IS RUMBOLD? AND HOW DID PRINCESS ALETHEA COME UP WITH IT? MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHY? I don't know why his name bothers me so much. It just does.

Speaking of names and characters, there are many of them in this book. The Woodcutters have seven daughters, Monday-Sunday xD, two sons named Jack Jr. and Peter, an adopted son who's a relative anyway but they didn't know, papa Woodcutter Jack Sr., mama Woodcutter whose name is Seven (long story... read it to find out), a wicked aunt and her twin opposite. Then there's the king whose name everyone in Arilland has forgotten, the prince, the prince's brother, and a bunch of very helpful people who are also important. The point is, there's a lot of them!

This was a very fun introduction to the Woodcutter family. It made me smile and feel small again. I do wish that we were told what happened to Jack Jr. at long last, and I wish we got to know Mrs. Woodcutter, Seven, a little more.
I stumbled unto something really cute while half paying attention to my television screen, something that I feel like should be shared. Although I do not enjoy watching this particular series on the Cartoon Network, I can't help but really like episode 27 of Teen Titans Go! titled "Books".

It's an episode where Starfire, Robin, Beast Boy, and Cyborg are so bored that they *gasp* decide to try to set their imaginations free by reading books. And boy do they get ADDICTED! Raven, who has always been a reader, tries to make the other four understand the power of what a good book can do to a person; both bad and good things (like being obsessed, that sneaky double-edged sword).

Clip of episode

It makes me proud to see that cartoons that are usually senseless and not-as-good-as-the-original have actually gotten on board with getting children and adults alike to read, read, read. I wish more "popular" cartoons would do similar things for different important subjects, but

Months have passed since Juliet Moreau returned to civilization after escaping her father's island-and the secrets she left behind. Now back in London once more, she is rebuilding the life she once knew and trying to forget Dr. Moreau's horrific legacy-though someone, or something, hasn't forgotten her.

As people close to Juliet fall victim one by one to a murderer who leaves a macabre calling card of three claw-like slashes, Juliet fears one of her father's creations may have also escaped the island. She is determined to find the killer before Scotland Yard does, though it means awakening sides of herself she had thought long banished, and facing loves from her past she never expected to see again.

As Juliet strives to stop a killer while searching for a serum to cure her own worsening illness, she finds herself once more in the midst of a world of scandal and danger. Her heart torn in two, past bubbling to the surface life threatened by an obsessive killer-Juliet will be lucky to escape alive.

With inspiration from Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, this is a tantalizing mystery about the hidden natures of those we love and how far we'll go to save the, from themselves.

River rents the guesthouse behind Violet's crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard.

Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be be something more? Violet's grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery... who makes you want to kiss back. Violet's already so knee-deep in love, she can't see straight. And that's just how River likes it.

I had been looking forward to reading this book for quite a while now, and finally, I gave myself the opportunity by going ahead and buying a copy! I cannot say that I regret it. At all.

The first thing that attracted me to this book was the cover art. Yes, it is overshadowed by the big and looming letters of the title, but it still speaks to me. The cover art is simply too beautiful to not make someone wonder what's going on beyond the hard cover.

At first, I thought the book was alright; the first couple of pages where the main character, Violet, is talking about her grandmother dragged on a bit too much for my tastes, but I prefer not to judge a book until I've read at least a hundred (100) pages of the story. It soon became clear that I didn't need to go that far before I took a liking to Violet White's peculiar ways, her twin brother Luke's bad attitude, and their neighbor Sunshine's laid-back existence. I was also very intrigued by the Whites' family history!

The storyline seemed as fluid as water to me. You read one page, move on to the next and the next, and before you know it, you're done!! I don't think it would have been possible if the characters weren't molded as they were. Each and everyone of them are quirky (some are even beyond creepy), but they're such irregular people that it just seems normal. I for one think that that is pretty cool. Abnormal things happen in a lot in Violet's little town; the residents question it but at the same time, they weirdly let it roll off their shoulders...

And the relationships? Complex! Violet hates but loves her misogynist brother Luke who seems to blame everything that is wrong in the world on his sister all the while worrying about her? Then there is Sunshine who likes to stare into the horizon for hours while engrossed in her thoughts, wants to be kissed and groped by Luke (it happens all the time) and is Violet's somewhat friend. River is the boy who just popped up in town one day and who brings everything the strange with him wherever he steps foot.

One thing that I didn't like about this book is the amount of times the word "Devil" was used. It was always the Devil this and the Devil that. It was used so many times that it just became extremely annoying. If this was revised and the use of this particular word was reduced to more than half, it would still be a really good story. So the Devil? Unnecessary.

Cannot wait for book number two.~

It is, at last, the end of 2013 and the beginning of a new year that will hopefully be filled with wondrously wonderfully new books by all of our favorite authors!

It was not long ago that I decided to work on this little blog of mine. I've found out that being a full time university student takes a lot out of a person's day; so much in fact that reading in the pace I'm used to in the past is almost impossible! x.x

BUT! But but but...

Things will be different during 2014. New semester, new schedule. So what have I done? I've made sure that I would have plenty of time to read, blog, and be more involved in the book blogging community.

So farewell 2013! I'm ready to take on another year of reading, reading, and even more reading.
Happy Holidays everyone! I don't know what you celebrate exactly, but I know for a fact that t'is the time to appreciate books and their authors!

What did I wish for this Christmas? Books, duh! Books, books and more books! And I did get books, from myself? I suppose no one would know which ones I wanted better than me. xD

Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday. And remember, the only way to make it a great holiday is to curl yourself up with a good book in hand.

With a trip to Paris alone (or rather, without parental supervision), who wouldn't be excited? Colette certainly is, but the excitement doesn't last for long when all of her insecurities and fears attack at once. And that's when I started losing bits of interest in this story.

At first, I thought that Colette would prove to be a very interesting person. After all, why else would a book be written with her as the focus? She was a little interesting only because of her supposed family history and bloodline. The character herself? Not so much. She worries and panics about everything that could go wrong and they eventually do (self-fulling prophecy). Even though everything is going wrong with her family, all she can think about is whether or not her friends Hannah and Pilar will approve of the things she does.

The plot, although good, was very rough. It felt rushed and unfinished, but I think it had a lot of potential. Sometimes it seems the author was trying too hard in some part of the story while in other parts, she wasn't trying enough. I personally thought that the concept was a great one; it's what drew me to the book in the first place (besides the very cupcake-ish cover. Yum!).

The other characters in the book are very underdeveloped. Except of Hannah, of course. She's the queen of everything, the leader of the threesome that contains Colette and Pilar, and if she doesn't get her way... watch out! Pilar is talented and friendly (or at least friendlier than Hannah) so it was a shame to see that she was stuck in the clutches of the evil queen. I wish she was given a more outstanding role right from the beginning, even though she does prove to be pretty important near the end. Marie Antoinette? She's a crazy ghost out for blood and revenge. No further information needed.

In all, I thought this book was OK. It was an easy read but not for all the right reasons. The problem was mostly Colette and how weak she was throughout most of the book. She tried to venture out on her own, which led to the discoveries of some important stuffie-stuff, but she always went back to Hannah's side! Eventually she gets a boost in personality but it came in too late for me.

If the author decided to work on this story more and re-wrote it in more details, depth and emotion, I would most definitely read give it another chance. And unpolished gem for sure.
Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. And once you pass through Coldtown's gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of a Coldtown itself.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black.

Party girl Tana finds herself in the middle of an intriguing story after she wakes up one morning to find all of her friends and peers dead. Every single drop of blood was drained out of them. A normal person would have high-tailed it out of that house as soon as he/she saw all the bodies and realized what had happened, but nope not Tana. Instead, she discovers her ex-boyfriend Aidan chained up in a room with a somewhat friendly vampire who warns her that there are two other vampires in the building who would not hesitate to devour them. Thus starts the story of Tana, the girl who wants to live.

Tana is a strong character who is willing to risk her life to save others. She struggles with demons of the past who still haunt her thoughts and dreams. But it is because of those demons that she is dedicated on not allowing Aidan to become fully vampire and to saving herself from becoming Cold. Although she is not fearless, she puts up a good front when facing the dangers that are bound to change her life forever.

This story is told in a very neutral pace; it's not too fast or too slow, which makes it easy to follow. There is sometimes a change in time, meaning that readers go into the memories of the characters and learn a little about their pasts. With that, you get to learn about Tana's many brushes with death and how she always seems to escape going Cold.

During their journey to the nearest Coldtown, Tana, Aidan, and vampire boy meet a pair of twins who go by the names Midnight and Winter. The twins' goal is to travel into Coldtown and get willingly turned into vampires themselves simply because they don't want to go through any more birthdays. They don't particularly care how it happens as long as it does. The twins' contacts inside Coldtown seem harmless and happy to help Tana and Aidan at first, but it does not take long for them to show their true colours. What I really like about this story is how the villains and the good guys are somehow balanced; meaning that, while Tana meets people who are up to no good, she also makes friends with some who truly have her back.

Most of all, I enjoyed the many twists and turns The Coldest Girl in Town takes. I could kind of see them coming but was still pleasantly surprised when dark secrets were revealed and the unspeakable kept happening. My only regret is that it wasn't longer. If it were not for the awesome writing style of Holly Black, I don't think I would have liked this book as much as I did. She managed to make a 'cheesy' vampire story into a very, well, 'non-cheesy' vampire story.
"What's your favorite book/series/author/etc?"

One of the hardest things about being a reader, I think, is having to pick favorites. Favorite books, favorite authors, covers, characters, etc.

I chose to briefly discuss the cruel concept of having to pick favorites because of the currently running Goodreads Choice Awards 2013.

What makes it hard to pick who or what I love most about books? I think it's because there are so many options out there; we are surrounded by literature, and when we think we've fallen in love with one, a new book comes out and blows us all away!

For the longest time, I didn't have any novels that I would do anything to get my hands on. I mean, I (really really) liked a lot of them, re-read some of them a couple of times, but nothing ever <strike>err</strike> stirred my blood? o.o' That is, until I read a certain title called The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. And then I read and re-read and re-read and re-read Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes in one sitting. Immediately after, I discovered The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. All in the timeframe of a couple of months.

When it comes to series, I've fallen for so many this year. I'm obsessed, addicted, and consumed by the series and, by default, their authors:

I've lost count of how many times I've read The Raven Boys while I was waiting for The Dream Thieves to come out. And now I own the second Raven Cycle title which is signed and doodled on by Stiefvater herself!

Book 3 comes out sometime in 2014. Book 4? 2015. Which is not OK at all.

So would I say that these are my favorite books/series of all time? Yes but no. I feel like the term "favorite" is too limited. I am infatuated with the titles listed, but there are so many others that I will never forget and will never 'get over' because it's hard. And most of all, I don't want to have to pick this over that.

Why can't other people get that? Why do they expect me to have one that I prefer above all others? e.e

Want to play along?

Hooray! The Goodreads Choice Awards 2013 is here!

The Very Bookish Event

The event is an awards show type of thing that happens once a year where readers vote for their favorite nominated book in any and every one of the categories.

This year, there are twenty (20) categories: Fiction, Mystery & Thriller, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Paranormal Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romance, Horror, Memoir & Autobiography... *breathes* History & Biography, Nonfiction, Food & Cookbooks, Humor, Graphic Novels & Comics, Poetry, Debut Goodreads Author, Young Adult Fiction, Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction, Middle Grade & Children's, and Picture Books.

Wow, what a list! And the voting schedule is as shown below:

November 4 - 9 Opening Round

November 11 - 16 Semifinal Round

November 18 - 25 Final Round

This is my first time participating because I didn't know it existed (<strike>my life was sad before Goodreads</strike>).

I'm extremely glad and proud that stuff like this exists in the bookish community.~

However... it makes me feel like I don't read enough?

I go into most of the categories and am like, "I HAVEN'T READ ANY OF THESE AWESOME BOOKS WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE?!?!"

I truly want to cry a little.

Some of the books I recognize and have originally had interest in them but never got the chance to add them to my TBR list. And it seems that my list is so full already (I call it virtually clutter, and having claustrophobia, this does not bode well for me).

But. But but BUT! I have decided that I will add at least one book from each of the categories to my TBR, maybe even more than that from the categories like Middle Grade & Children's, and Picture Books.

Which books did I vote for (so far) during the Opening Round?

Gaia Moore is brilliant and beautiful. She's trained in three kinds of martial arts, has reflex speed that's off the charts, and can break codes in four languages.
She's also missing the fear gene.
All Gaia wants is to be like everyone else. Instead, she's left wondering about her past, her missing family... and the unavailable boy she's falling for. But everything changes when she learns that someone is hunting her down for her special skills, and they'll do anything to get to her.
But Gaia isn't worried.
She is FEARLESS.

There are times when you read the synopsis of a book and you're like "yeah, I know exactly how this is going down". That was my thought process for this bundle of the first three books of the Fearless series by Francine Pascal. I knew Gaia would be a great character who would kick-ass a lot more often than a regular teenager should feel the need to <strike>and she does</strike>. In all, I expected it to be a pretty easy read, something that I could breeze through in a day and be say, "alright, read that".

In a way, I was right. But these three books were more than what I was hoping for.

Gaia is someone that I would aspire to be. She cares about people even though she doesn't exactly like to be around them. She goes out of her way to ensure the safety of enemies (except for that one incident...). Not too mention that she's extremely strong, fast, and cunning. What makes a realistic and relatable person, however, is her insecurities. She doesn't have the fact that she has super abilities, but she wishes she didn't enjoy the thrill of fighting bad guys so much. She wishes she had been born more or less 'normal', and regrets the fact that she's never had a boyfriend.

Gaia is also witty and funny, which made this book so enjoyable to read! Her personality is stellar. Gaia becomes friends with a boy in a wheelchair who takes a liking to her because she doesn't care about his disability. He becomes a great asset to the story as you read through each volume in the series. Many other characters come into play to create MAJOR drama in Gaia's life; I mean, more drama than there already is with her father abandoning her for years and her every movements being watched by whoever.

Pascal's writing style when it comes to this series is somewhat simple but it works. The reason being that you get a sense that you really are in Gaia's head when she's narrating the story. And for a teenager, Gaia is very not-annoying because of the way everything flows. When you turn to another point of view, it doesn't stray far from what you were originally reading so, again, great flow.

All in all, this is one series that I'm looking forward to continuing, and I have plenty to look forward to since there are so many volumes!

Teaser Tuesdays, a weekly bookish meme, is brought to you by Should Be Reading. This meme is where I will share two (2) random "teaser" sentences from a random page of whatever I'm currently reading and try to pull you guys in.

Want to play along?

Grab your current read

Open to a random page

Share two sentences from somewhere on that page

Be careful not to include spoilers

Share the title, author, and page of the book

This week's book (the entire series, really) is published with two different names... which I think is unnecessary.

Judging.

It's the thing of which most of us don't like to admit we're guilty. Why? We've always been told that it's "bad" for us, that we'll end up burning in the pits of hell or something if we do it. There are signs everywhere screaming "DON'T JUDGE!!!" I mean, we do it anyway and we know that every body else does it but we always act like we don't <strike>which is ridiculous</strike>. Well today, I have a confession to make...

The truth is, I judge a lot. Like, a lot; the amount of judging that demands the underlining of the words 'a lot'. If I didn't, there are a lot of books that I probably would have never read. Which brings me to ask the question - What motivates us to pick up certain books but not others?

For me, it's most often the cover of a book that's luring. It took me a while to realize that I judged books by their covers, though; It was such a shocking revelation! "What? I do this?!?!?" After contemplating whether or not to change this "bad" habit, I decided to pay more attention to it instead. What I found out was this:

I'm particularly fond of hardcover books with girls wearing flowing dresses featured on the cover. Which I find kind of weird... because it's so random? I don't know, it's just weird to me. What's weirder is the fact that more than half of every book I pick up was the same thing: girl, in flowing dress, flowing hair, dark atmosphere.

Furthermore, if there's a girl on the cover (or any body parts that suggests it's a girl), I will read it. No flowing anything required.

Seriously, my read list has been invaded by girls! Or more specifically, kick-ass chicks who don't know when to give up. And why am I so attracted to such covers? It's more than just "Oooh! It's so pretty!" (Although there is that, too). It's the power of femininity. I'm intrigued by it. I want to read about it and experience it every chance I get. We live on a world that's too crowded with males here and males there (I feel). We don't hear enough about women who did something that meant something even though they exist. And that, my friends, 'erks' me to the point where I have to go find such stories elsewhere.

Maybe it's a really unusual reason for deciding to read a book? But for me, this is how it starts: with the promise of the importance of a female role. And dresses. Lots and lots of dresses.

Liyana has trained her entire life to be the vessel of a goddess. The goddess will inhabit Liyana's body and use magic to bring rain to the desert. But Liyana's goddess never comes. Abandoned by her angry tribe, Liyana expects to die in the desert. Until a boy walks out of the dust in search of her. Korbyn is a god inside his vessel, and a trickster god at that. He tells Liyana that five other gods are missing, and they set off across the desert in search of the other vessels. For the desert tribes cannot survive without the magic of their gods. But the journey is dangerous, even with a god's help. And not everyone is willing to believe the trickster god's tale. The closer she grows to Korbyn, the less Liyana wants to disappear to make way for her goddess. But she has no choice: She must die for her tribe to live. Unless a trickster god can help her to trick fate -- or a human girl can muster some magic of her own.

What really got me to pick this book up at the library was the cover. There's a girl on the cover who's in a beautiful ensemble and the colours are in-your-face... It was made specifically so that I could stare at it and not get bored.

I was not at all disappointed with this storyline. It is different and rich with foreign beliefs and cultures that may or may not be fictional. It deals with the concept of sacrificing oneself in order to save others and dealing with the baggage that comes with knowing that you have no future because you are not expected to live very long. Goodness! While I was reading this, I couldn't help but be impressed with the actions of the characters whose purpose in life is to die so that their clans can survive the Great Drought.

Liyana, the main main character is a very cool chick in my book. She keeps her cool and her head on at all times. "Oh, I'm about to be offered up as sacrifice? That is perfectly OK... You're leaving me in the desert to die a horrible death because the ceremony didn't work and you're blaming it on me? I'll catch you guys on the flip-side." What? Are you crazy, girl? Of course she's crying on the inside a little, but her sense of self sacrifice is so great that she'll really do anything to ensure the survival of her clan. "The goddess who was suppose to invade my body while I disappear into the Dreaming forever is missing? Let's find her." Not to mention that she's really good at almost everything.

Korbyn, the trickster god, is Liyana's main companion for most of their quest to rescue the missing deities. He's a big flirt (tries to impress Liyana at every turn), and he thinks he knows everything. His magic-using (he is a god after all) comes in handy a lot. I think he's a really fun guy. Fennik, for me, is one of those people who just exists; He was interesting for like, 20 seconds, but I don't mind that he's there and I wouldn't mind if he wasn't there... I feel like such a <strike>buttface</strike>, but it's the truth xD. Pia is one of those annoying "I'm popular so look at me" girls who are just, well, annoying. e.e And I'm not entirely sure what to think about Raan because, yes she's cool too, but I feel like she has no heart sometimes.

Ultimately, what really made me like this book was the concept behind it. I even wish I was the one that came up with it. There's a lot of interesting things that takes place in the midst of the story, but to reveal one would make me reveal that, then this, and so you'd think that I might as well copy and paste the entire book onto here.

My only regret was the fact that the book wasn't longer. There could have been more details somewhere in the middle to make it longer (which is just my opinion). I pretty much didn't want it to end because I wanted more, I wanted more, and dang it I WANT MORE!
In the conclusion to the trilogy that Publishers Weekly called “a roaring—and addictive—gothic world,” Eleanor Fitt must control her growing power, face her feelings for Daniel, and confront the evil necromancer Marcus...all before it’s too late.
He took her brother, he took her mother, and now, Marcus has taken her good friend Jie. With more determination than ever to bring this sinister man to justice, Eleanor heads to the hot desert streets of nineteenth-century Egypt in hopes of ending this nightmare. But in addition to her increasingly tense relationships with Daniel, Joseph, and her demon, Oliver, Eleanor must also deal with her former friend, Allison, who has curiously entangled herself in Eleanor’s mission.
With the rising dead chomping at her every move and Jie’s life hanging in the balance, Eleanor is convinced that her black magic will see her through to the bitter end. But there will be a price. Though she and the Spirit Hunters have weathered every battle thus far, there will be consequences to suffer this time—the effects of which will be irreversible. And when it’s over, only some will be able to live a strange and ever after.
Susan Dennard will leave readers breathless and forever changed in the concluding pages of this riveting ride.

I've been waiting for all three books to come out so I can tackle the entire series at once, but July 2014 is a long wait from today... Will I have the patience to wait before I start reading book one? Probably not. xD
Before saying anything else, let me first get this off my chest: I've never read a story that tugged at my heartstrings so hard before.

When I first got the notice from a Goodreads group that there was a new book available for Read & Review, I was thrilled after reading the synopsis. The Sharing Moon sounded like a cute read, and my initial thought was that it would be a break from the stories I'm used to reading.

I wasn't prepared for The Sharing Moon at all; that is to say, I was completely blown away by the plot, the characters, the moods, the everythings, in the best possible way! Campbell did not just write a book that tugged at my heartstrings a little, it felt like my heart was playing tug of war with an invisible force. I was expecting a rather simple tale about second chance and I received a whirlwind of twists, turns, and heartache.

Elijah, even though he is a lost soul who hardly ever gets a straight answer from the forces of the universe who decided to give him the second chance in the first place, tries very hard to do what is asked for him. He's persistent, friendly and very protective of the number one girl in his life. Not to mention that he's perhaps the most beautiful boy that has ever existed (and he's existed twice!). I admire the way Elijah is pretty much the "force of good", smiling and encouraging, even though he has his own demons to battle. And he does it all for the sake of Seraphina.

Seraphina is a broken soul, someone who tries but cannot seem to find the value in her life. I mean, unless you read it, or you've known someone who deals with extreme depression, you wouldn't believe that this girl is the way she is. I thought she that the mood swings would get annoying after awhile, but nope. Her darkened mind only made me want to read even more. That sounds really really bad, but I swear that it's a good thing. She becomes Elijah's number one priority, she is the girl that needs to know that life is a fragile thing and the girl that desperately needs saving.

Leah. Now she was annoying. I understood her purpose in pestering Elijah at every unconscious moment, but goodness! Ugh! That girl is just a ball of frustration. I just wanted to throw things at her every time she became part of the story.

As for Campbell's writing when it comes to The Sharing Moon, I thought that styling the story in the present tense was a genius approach. And it was done in a way that made the tone of the story very interesting. In short, it made me unable to stop reading. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I couldn't NOT finish this book in one go. I read it on the bus, while walking to class, while I was in class, when I knew I should have been taking care of other things (<strike>cough cough, homework</strike>)... I needed to know how it all ended because it was just so good!!!

The only problem I had though (uh oh), was the fact that the characters talk like they're reading a script (which they are in a way). Sometimes is was okay, but other times it distracted me from what I was reading because it didn't flow as well as it should have. BUT, other than that, The Sharing Moon was a pleasure to read. If I had a physical copy of it... IwouldfindawaytomakeElijahmine.
